Life is a Journey

Judges 17-18; Psalm 89; 2 Cor. 3
Scripture: Judges 17:6 In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.
Observation: Leadership is important. Although the passage speaks of a king, ultimately the leadership of God in our lives is essential. This should be established and enforced through Godly human leadership – and this was glaringly absent in Israel during this era. There was no standard, no direction – so people began to decide for themselves what is right and wrong without consideration of an authority outside themselves. Their own preferences and desires became what governed their choices and actions. Sometimes we are more interested in our preferences than God’s standard.
Application: I must always submit to the lordship of Christ. He must be my standard of right & wrong. I must follow Him, not what I see fit. Living by God’s standard is essential and will keep me from paths that lead to trouble.
Prayer: Father – remind me when I replace your Lordship with my preference. Help me submit to godly human leadership. Help me walk with you, in your paths and with your standards! Amen.
